I can't think of my childhood without thinking about the entire Melin clan. Such wonderful memories from our neighborhood. Glenn and Maurine ~ or Mr. and Mrs. Melin to us, always smiling (at least to the neighbor kids). I remember when my Grandma Paquin lived across the street ~ all the times I would see her out in her yard talking with Glenn and Maurine. And, then there was my mom and Maurine. Mom considered Maurine one of her best friends ~ I think they were just keeping track of all of us kids ~ trying to keep us out of trouble!

Such a sad loss for your entire family. Doesn't matter how old your parent is or how old you are, when a parent dies, a part of you dies along with them. You will find a new normal now ~ sending prayers for strength and peace. May your dad, and husband, find eternal rest in the loving arms of Jesus.

Thanks for the memories, Glenn.

Glenn was my mother's first cousin and it has been an honor and blessing to have known him all my life. Unfortunately we were traveling when Glenn passed away so missed the opportunity to share our sadness with the family at that time. However, I feel blessed that we were able to visit him in Centuria on August 15. We could not communicate very well, but it was great to see that mischievous smile of his once again. While I have lived away since high school, we always have stopped by when visiting Wisconsin and cherish the memory of Glenn and Maurine's gracious welcoming to their home--along with the fruits of Maurine's considerable kitchen skills, I might add.

To me, one measure of love and respect for someone is demonstrated by how deep friendships are maintained even if you do not see each other in person very often. Each time we visited Glenn and Maurine it was like we had just seen them the day before. How great that was. Over the years I have shared with many two stories about Glenn when I was growing up. As one of the Melin daredevil pilots, he used to cut the engine on his Piper Cub over our farm and do loop-d-loops" as he plunged downward, which was awesome for someone in grade school. Second, once while visiting my Uncle Wesley Jackson's, my cousin Myron and I were pestering Glenn unmercifully, until he caught Myron and dunked him headfirst into a water tank in the side yard. Not only did we stop pestering him, but we did not dare go into the house the rest of the evening.

A wonderful man and a wonderful family, he will be missed so very, very much.

I am so sorry to hear of Glenn's passing. I have such fond memories of visiting Wisconsin over many years, and am grateful that my sisters and I were able to visit last year. He is now free. May he rest in peace.

My sympathy to Maureen, Lynn, Kathy and Mark and families. I will always remember my first airplane ride when Glenn kept his plane out at my parents farm while I was a youth. It was always so awesome seeing the plan come and go and kept my attention since I was only a young farm girl. May he be in peace now in those beautiful skies he flew so many times and all the wonderful memories be kept close to your hearts.

In regards to Steve's post.......I can vouch for Connie's homemade Lemon Pie. I witnessed the smile it put on Glenn's face. During my visit's to Sophie's Manor he often asked to listen to the song Lemon Tree by Peter, Paul and Mary. I played it and sometimes sang it to him. This is a precious memory. I am so very thankful for both Glenn and Maurine's kindness and friendships.

Dear Maureen & Family, I am so sorry to hear of Glenn's passing. I treasure the years I was able to get to know all of you, my long lost cousins! I am so sorry I will be unable to attend the funeral. I just had shoulder surgery and I am still dealing with that. I'll be thinking of you. DeeQ

What a gift Glenn as been to me. He always had a smile, I can remember waiting on him at Wayne's Café when some of the linemen would come for coffee. He always wanted to know what was happening in my family's life when we would visit.

Glenn and Maurine have opened their home and hearts to me for decades. Glenn had a twinkle in his eye, a grin that made me wonder what he might have up his sleeve next, and a heart that overflowed with love. His love for Maurine, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, his many nieces and nephews and their families cannot be fully expressed in words. He was a giant of a man who was always present to meet any need one might have..be it great or small. The world is a better place because of Glenn, and his legacy will continue to live through Maurine and his incredible family. Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Friend...you have blessed all who knew and loved you.

Sorry to here about Glen passing. I remember getting apples from Mark across the fence at Centuria as they lived right next to the school.

So sorry all to hear of Glen's passing. I'm presently in Hawaii but Connie let me know the sad news. Glen and your Mom were always so welcoming to me back in the day. Since Connie has worked at Sophie's she kept me current on Glen.

He was always excited when she cooked on Sundays as she'd often make his favorite lemon pie. She'd tell me how happy and appreciative he always was.

Lynn it always tough to say good bye to Dad. We'll be back in Wisconsin next summer, when your up that way give us a call and we'll have Connie whip up one of those favorite pies and we'll share a slice in honor of your Dad!

My thoughts and prayers will be w/you all over the next few days. May God grant you his Grace to weather this storm.

An Old Friend,
Steve Fredrickson
