Marguerite Chinander Obituary

Marguerite M. Chinander, age 92 years, 6 months and 22 days, of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, passed away on 8/22/2021 in Brooklyn Park Minnesota, after a brief hospitalization with heart disease, which made her unable to live independently.

Marguerite was born on 2/1/1929 to Edward and Gertrude Eibs in St Croix Falls, Wisconsin.  She spent her early years in Cushing and Wolf Creek, Wisconsin.  She graduated from St Croix Falls Wisconsin High School in 1945.

She met John E Chinander, and they wed in 1948 at Fristad (Joy) Lutheran Church, going on to have five children, Jon Scott, Julie Bjork (Bruce), Mary Ellen Chinander, Ross Chinander (Nancy), and Nancy Chinander (Ted Malm).

Marguerite and John settled in the Lamar area in St Croix Township, first building the "little house" and in 1959 moving to the farm on Hwy 35 where they farmed until 1974 when John's health required the sale of the farm.  They built a home on Blanding’s Wood Road in St Croix Falls, later moving to an apartment owned by Marg's brother Pink Eibs.  For the past 16 years, Marg lived and enjoyed an apartment in the St Croix Townhomes where she lived independently until a month before her death.

Marguerite was a homemaker as she and John raised their five children.  She was a creative and skilled seamstress.  She had a beautiful voice and often sang at weddings and funerals.  She was a member of the Fristad (Joy) choir and found a special joy in being a member of the Centuria Community Chorus. She was an active member of Fristad (Joy) Lutheran church in Centuria Wisconsin. She managed a busy household, later working as a Resident Assistant at the Good Samaritan Center in St Croix Falls and assisting with the farm work as needed. Mom was an early riser and prayed for her family and friends, country, and world.

Marguerite was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Gertrude Eibs; siblings, Henry (Ruby), Donald “Pink” Eibs (Diane), Marjorie and James; husband, John E Chinander; son, Jon Scott Chinander; daughter Nancy Chinander Malm; granddaughter; Allison Bjork; in-laws, Roy and Clara Chinander; brother-in-law, Roland Chinander (Viola) and sister-in-law, Maurine Melin (Glenn).

She is survived by daughters, Julie Bjork (Bruce), Mary Ellen Chinander, and son Ross Chinander (Nancy).  Grandchildren, Kimberly Howard (Woody), Andrew Chinander (Mary), Dana Chinander, Josh Chinander, Kristin Hale (Ezra), Angela Hayden (Seth), Sara Blaine (Byron), Alex Franklin, Brett Chinander, Erika Chinander, Emily McCallum (Ben), Evan Malm, Eva Chinander Malm, and Ema Malm.
