Jim Nelson Obituary

Jimmy (Jim) Nelson, 82, of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin passed away at his home on Thursday, May 13, 2021 with his family by his side, after a short battle with cancer.  Jim was born on July 20, 1938 to Frank and Pearl Nelson in Rice Lake, WI.  Jim graduated from Luck High School in 1956.  After graduation Jim went into the Air Force and served 4 years active duty and 2 years non-active.  Soon after he met the love of his life, Carolyn Martinsen.

On September 10, 1960, Jim and Carol were married.  From this union, five children were born, Thomas, Tammy, Todd, Tristan and Toni.  Jim loved fishing and he recently purchased a side by side but didn’t get to ride it much but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family.  Jim always had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh right up until the hours before he died.

Jim is preceded in death by his grandson, Jordan Kletschka, parents, Frank and Pearl Nelson, sisters, Shirley Berglund and Nancy Nelson.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, children: Tom (Denise) Nelson, Tammy (Dale) Jensen, Todd (Mary) Nelson, Tristan (Scott) Divine and Toni (Ray) DeSpiegelaere, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, sister, Diana Waldoch along with many other family members, nieces, nephews and friends.

Jim will be laid to rest at the Milltown Cemetery next to his grandson Jordan.

Private family services will be held.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
