Dora Gertrude Erna Gierth, 84, of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, at her residence. Dora was born on October 21, 1937, in Germany.
In 1958 Dora met and married her 1st husband, Don Nelson while he was stationed in Germany. He brought her to the United States where they made their home in Princeton, Minnesota, and raised five children. Later in life, Dora moved to Dayton and worked at Steinwall where she worked until her retirement.
She met the love of her life, Jim Kvale, while living in Dayton. They then moved to Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, and made that their home until the present time.
Dora loved to go camping and fishing. She and Jim also did a lot of traveling. She loved to knit hats and mittens for the grandchildren. For fun, Dora and Jim would go to the casino and do so some gambling. Her motto was “nothing wrong with a little drinking now and then”. She would joke her favorite dessert was “beer”.
Dora leaves to celebrate her memory: her children: Darlene Haines, Brewer, Maine, David Nelson, Milaca, Minnesota, Diane Nelson, Hastings, Minnesota, Debra Johnson, Princeton, Minnesota and Darrell Nelson, Brook Park, Minnesota, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Heinz Schultz, sister, Bridgett Gierth, grandson, Jason Shea, and the love of her life James Kvale.
