Dan passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sept 23^rd at age 71.  He was a 5-year lung transplant survivor.  The doctors at the University of Minnesota referred to him as their star patient.  It took a global pandemic to knock him down.

Dan lived his whole life on Long Lake.  He was born in a farmhouse on the north side of the lake.  At the age of 2, his family moved to the current farm on the south side of the lake.  At age 22 he built a home for his bride of 49 years on Tanglewood Tr. and lived there 5 years before he returned to the family farm. 

Dan loved being a farmer and took a lot of pride in caring for his land, milking cows, and raising excellent crops.  He could also build or fix ANYTHING.  He always said if man can build it, man can fix it.

He received many awards as a land and water conservationist, building many dams to control runoff from the farm.  He practiced no-till planting and used cover crops to control erosion.  Dan and his wife were also past officers of the Long Lake Association, and along with the DNR was involved with eradicating weeds from the lake.

Dan was never idle and would help anyone who asked him for a favor.  He will be missed by many wonderful friends and family.  

Dan is survived by his wife Dolores, sons Thomas (Jackie), Michael (Laurie), grandchildren, Kayla and Kendra Bramsen, Chase, Blake, Ashton Patterson, brother Greg (Kim) Patterson, sister Faye (Rich) Tourville, Sister Carmen Patterson.  Preceded in death by parents Ed and Leona Patterson, brother Jerry Patterson, sister Judy Tourville.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Balsam Lake from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. with a Memorial Mass beginning at 4:00 P.M. followed by a warm meal. 

Masks are preferred but not mandatory at the visitation and service.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
