Charles "Chuck" Olesen Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Olesen, 89, of Milltown, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the United Pioneer Home in Luck, Wisconsin.  Chuck was born on January 6, 1931 in Luck, Wisconsin the son of Adolph and Gertrude (Coen) Olesen.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He married his best friend Elizabeth Merten on May 1, 1954, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Centuria, WI. They were married for 64 years and together for 69 years.

He was drafted into the Army on October 27, 1951 and was honorary discharged on October 20, 1953. He trained in Germany and served in Austria. He was the in reserves for 6 years.

They purchased Knickerbocker grocery store in 1955, in St. Paul, MN, they it for two and a half years. They decided to move back home to Milltown, WI, where they raised their four children, Danny, Sandy, Cora Lee and Brenda.

Chuck loved life and lived it to the fullest. Chuck enjoyed going to the cabin in Dairyland, WI. Chuck golfed until he was 81 years old. Golfing was his passion; he got 6 holes in one in his golfing years. He enjoyed deer hunting. He shot his biggest buck watching the Packer game from his tree stand. He worked for the Polk County Highway Department until he retired in 1993 at the age of 62. He loved driving around town in his golf cart.

Chuck made many good friends and loved each and every one of them. He enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Chuck leaves to celebrate his memory: son, Daniel Olesen (Deb), daughters Sandy Johnson (Ron), Cora Olesen-Galle (Jim), and Brenda Carlson (Ron), grandchildren Brandon Johnson, Brandon Scheuer, James Olesen, Tina Moss, Todd Olesen and Alec Carlson; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Gene Olesen, Royce Olesen (Betty); sisters Bonnie Elfstrom, Charlotte Johnson and Dixie Keenan and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Olesen; parents Adolph and Gertrude Olesen; sisters Connie Townsley, Jennette Lunsmann, Jenny Lunsmann; grandson Rodney Johnson and granddaughter Megan Carlson

A Private Family Funeral Service and visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.  Chuck will be laid to rest alongside his wife Liz at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery with full military honors. His grandchildren, Brandon Johnson, Brandon Scheuer, James Olesen, Tina Moss, Todd Olesen and Alec Carlson will be casketbearers.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
