Ardis Carol (May) Miller

Ardis Carol (May) Miller, age 80, of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Amery Memory Care in Amery, Wisconsin. Ardis May was born on December 5, 1942, in Woodstock, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Connie (Jackson) May.

Ardis grew up in Johnsburg, Illinois, and attended college at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She married Thomas Miller on August 12, 1967. Ardis and Tom raised their family on the Fox River in Johnsburg, Illinois. In 1986, Ardis and Tom moved the family to Balsam Lake, Wisconsin where they bought the Ledger Publication, Inc. 

Ardis enjoyed teaching French at Unity School for 18 years and then went on to sell advertising for the County Ledger Press. She was a talented artist and enjoyed traveling to France with students and family. She was a devoted Catholic and served as a communion minister. Ardis also loved spending time with her grandchildren and time on the lake.

Ardis was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Connie May, her husband Tom, and sisters, Francine May and Beverly Lindmark.

Ardis leaves behind children, Jessica (Chad) Knutson, Mac (Stefanie) Miller, and Leslie (Brady) Waggoner, and grandchildren, Nathan, Abigail, Thomas, Mary, and William and her twin sister Arlette Cable. 

A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Balsam Lake on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. Please join the family in the church fellowship hall following the service.
