Vernon Henry Lee, age 89, of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026.
Vernon was born on April 27, 1936, in Amery, Wisconsin, to his parents, Henry and Ruby Lee. He grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for rural life—values that would shape the rest of his years. On September 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to Donna Carlson at Fristad Lutheran Church in Centuria. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and farming.
Farming was more than a job for Vernon—it was something he truly enjoyed. He cared deeply for the land, his animals, and the routine of farm life. After more than a decade as an over-the-road truck driver, Vernon returned to the farm, where he worked until the age of 85.
Vernon enjoyed the little things in life. He had a sweet tooth, with apple fritters being a particular favorite. He loved football and proudly played during his high school years. Known for his warm sense of humor, gentle teasing, and storytelling, Vernon brought laughter and joy to everyone around him. Vernon and Donna especially enjoyed their time with their friends from the Thursday afternoon snowmobiling club and singing in the community choir.
Faith was the cornerstone of Vernon’s life. He was an active and devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he participated in the men’s group and especially enjoyed making maple syrup and peeling potatoes for church meals. His quiet dedication and steady presence were a blessing to his church family.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Kelsey Lee.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; his children, Robert (Susan) Lee and Heidi Lee; his granddaughter, Jordan Lee; his sister, Ellen Rollet; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Adoray Home Health & Hospice, Apple River Fire & Rescue, St. Croix Health, and Synergy Home Care for their compassionate care, support, and kindness during Vernon’s final days.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Garfield. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow at the church. A private interment will take place at a later date at Balsam Lake Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1578 85th Ave, Amery, WI 54001 or Adoray Home Health & Hospice (Adoray.org).
Kolstad Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
