Susan Edythe Kastens
Susan Edythe Kastens, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, went home to be with our Lord, Monday, October 20, 2025, in Osceola, Wisconsin, at the age of 81.
Born in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, on June 23, 1944, Suzie was the daughter of Harold and Adeline Ylinen. Her life was marked by her fierce love for her family and her incredible ability to make friends everywhere she went. Suzie truly lived a full and blessed life, touching the hearts of countless people along the way.
Suzie found simple joy in her daily rituals: drinking coffee, spending time with her family, getting competitive overboard and playing card games, dedicating hours to a challenging puzzle, and enjoying a good true crime show. An animal lover through and through, she treasured cuddling with her big cat, Charlie. She was special to everyone she came across, embracing many roles throughout her life—Daughter, Friend, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother. Known affectionately as Susan, Suzie, Suzie Q, Mom, Mama, Mommy, Grandma, Nana, Nana Sue Sue, and even "Grandma Ho" (ahem.. lovingly given to her by Jake). She was everything to those who knew her.
Suzie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Harold and Adeline Ylinen; her son, Daniel Kastens; her grandson, Johnny Bibeau; and her great-grandson, Skylar Daniel Ostlund.
She is survived by an incredible number of friends and family, including her devoted Best Cat, Charlie; her sister, JoAnne (Dennis) Wilson; her children: Lisa (Pat) Murphy & Family, Lori Kastens & Family, Trish (Wayne) Johnson & Family, Chyleen (Bruce) Johnson & Family, Sandy (Scott) Berry & Family, and Scott Kastens. Though her presence will be deeply missed, she will be forever remembered and loved.
Friends, family, and loved ones are invited to a visitation and Celebration of Life on November 1, 2025, to celebrate Suzie's life at the Alliance Church of the Valley, located at 1259 State Road 35, St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. Visitation starts at 10:00 am and the Service begins at 11:00 am.
Kolstad Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
