Obituary

Shelly Maxwell, 67, of New Richmond, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with her beloved fiancé, Richard, by her side.

Shelly was born on April 10, 1959, in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, to Charles Larsen and Carol (Matz) Larsen.  Throughout her life, Shelly was known for her caring heart and compassionate spirit.  She dedicated more than 10 years to caring for others while working in a nursing home, where she found great fulfillment helping the elderly.  Her kindness, patience, and genuine concern for those in her care left a lasting impression on many families and coworkers.

Outside of work, Shelly found joy in the simple pleasures of life.  She loved spending time fishing, creating beautiful crafts, and making memories with those she loved.  Her warm smile, generous heart, and resilient spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Shelly is lovingly survived by her devoted fiancé, Richard; her father, Kenneth Nelson; her brother, Scott (Laurie) Larsen; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Preceded in death by her father, Charles Larsen; mother, Carol Nelson; brother, Steven Nelson; and several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Shelly's strength, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and friends will remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.  Though she is gone too soon, her memory will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.

The Celebration of Life for Shelly will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 11:00 am at Joy Lutheran Church in Centuria.  Visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am.  Please join the family for lunch in the church fellowship hall following the service.  Shelly will be laid to rest at 1:30 pm at the Maplegrove Cemetery in Frederic following the luncheon.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Centuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
