Russell spent his early years in Centuria and Milltown, Wisconsin, attending elementary and middle school there before graduating from Unity High School. He later moved to Milwaukee, where he completed his studies at Milwaukee Area Technical College. During this time, he was also a proud member of ACE Boxers, an experience that brought him great joy and lifelong connections.
He began his career as a truck driver with Shiffman Moving Company, where he worked for 12 years, followed by 22 devoted years at St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. After decades of hard work, he retired with a deep sense of accomplishment.
Russell was a man of many passions. He loved playing guitar, listening to classic country music, and visiting different casinos. With a wonderful sense of humor and a natural love of staying active, he brought energy and laughter wherever he went. Generous, helpful, and always willing to do anything for others, he lived his life as a devoted family man and a loyal friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Robert; his son, Russell Merrill Jr.; and his brother, Robert Merrill Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Raymond Merrill Sr. (Karen), Lydia Merrill-Woods (Chad), and Marie Beaulieu. Russell is also remembered with love by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him tremendous pride and joy.
