Michael Jerome Costello of Milltown passed away peacefully on the morning of August 13th, 2025. We were blessed with 64 years of his loving and caring presence.
Michael was born in Frederic and grew up in Milltown. He attended Unity School, where so many of his friendships started. His passion for animals and farm life ran deep. You would have seen him driving his draft horses, joyriding on a tractor, and tending to his many animals on any given day (with classic rock in the background). Those closer to him enjoyed some of his favorite pastimes with him, like attending horse pulls, bowling, fishing, playing cribbage, or even just watching a good old western in black and white.
The pleasure that he got talking about his adventures (like Sturgis or the trips to Brainerd with his close friends) brought him almost as much joy as talking about and/or spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He loved being a grandpa. He loved being a dad. He loved his Mary. He loved his family. His smile, his laugh, and his heart will truly be missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Rachel Costello, and siblings Rita Arellano and Patrick Costello.
He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Berg; his only child, Michael (Sheena) Costello; grandchildren, Adeline, Emmett, and Liam Costello; his sibling Jim (Karen) Costello, Mary Nelson, Colleen Simon, Kitty Coen, Jean Kemmits; along with his many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Memorial Service for Michael will be held on Friday, August 22, 2005, at 6 pm at the Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Centuria. Visitation will be held from 4 pm until the time of the service.
Michael’s family will host a Celebration of Life the following day, Saturday, August 23rd, from 11 am – 3 pm at the Costello Family Farm, 1419 235th Avenue, Milltown, WI.
