Marvin R. Sloper, 68, of Centuria, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 29, 2026, in Gordon Township, Douglas County, Wisconsin.
Marvin was born in Silverton, Oregon, and his family moved to Wisconsin when he was 6 weeks old. He graduated from Unity High School in 1975, and he married Lori Weichelt on January 13th, 1979. He worked for his father’s business Sloper Trucking, after graduating and worked in the propane business for several years after that. He decided to go into business for himself and started his handyman business, Have Tools Will Travel, and a few years later, he started operating a gravel pit and truck business under Sloper Trucking. Although he claimed he was retired, he still did jobs when asked.
Marvin loved the outdoors and hunting and was able to go on a few elk hunts over the years. He went deer hunting every year with his “Cop’s Army” crew. He especially loved snowmobiling and went on many rides with friends. If there was no snow at home, they would find it somewhere. The last few years, he and Lori enjoyed riding their side-by-side on trips with friends. One of his favorite things was shooting pool with his friends on Wednesday nights. Marvin could fix almost anything and enjoyed the challenge of figuring things out. He was a very loving and helpful person and always was the life of the party. Life will not be the same without him.
Marv leaves to celebrate his life and his memory, his wife of 47 years Lori, loving daughters, Jennifer Sloper and Amy Sloper (Kevin) and his pride and joy, granddaughter, Zoe Micka-Sloper, also, siblings Randy (Pam), Kathy, Les (Toni), Lori “Bud”, Sharon (Dan) Bye, brothers and sisters in law, Daniel and Deb Olesen and Suzie Weichelt and of course his special birthday friends group, Karen and Steve Edgell, Joe and Pam Ince and Rich and his late wife Tammy Roos, who he enjoyed many wonderful times, also other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVerne and Mary Ann Sloper, brother Donald, father, and mother-in-law, Ronald and Nadine Weichelt.
Visitation for Marvin will be held at North Valley Lutheran Church on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm and again on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, followed by a luncheon in the church fellowship hall. Marv will be laid to rest at the North Valley Cemetery at a later date.
Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
