Jeffrey, a name that translates closely to “God’s peace” or “divinely peaceful.” In theory, a man named Jeffrey brings peace and calm to those around him. Everyone who knew Jeffrey Steven Hermansen knew this was true. Despite his remarkable ability to find mischief in almost any situation, the laughter, wisdom, and understanding he shared brought people together and left lasting memories.

Jeff passed away in the early hours of Saturday, June 20, 2026. He spent his final days surrounded by those who loved him most. His life was filled with challenges and triumphs alike, and he leaves behind a legacy that will endure for generations.

Jeff was born on March 29, 1973, in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, to Steve and Shelly Hermansen, who waited for him in heaven, along with his brother, Ross Hermansen, and his sister in infancy, Gwendolyn.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Tina, whom he loved fiercely and protected with all his heart. Together, they built a life on their family farm and raised their children: Justin, Lakeysha, Billy, Jade, Autumn (Jonah), and Haley.

One of Jeff’s favorite titles was “Papa.” He made time for every one of his grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to lovingly tease them. His grandchildren—Alaina, Declan, Levi, Marley, Payton, Easton, Grayson, Raelynn, Wade, and Adeline—brought him immense joy.

Jeff was also a fun-loving and devoted big brother to his sisters, Gretchen (Tim) and Audrey (Matthew), and a proud uncle to Andrew, Emily, Gabriella, and Margo. His many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also deeply feel the loss of his larger-than-life presence.

Jeff grew up on Triple Creek Farm in Luck, Wisconsin. Even at a young age, he became known for his incredible mechanical abilities. While still in high school, he started a snowmobile repair and sales business, and before long, sleds lined the entire farm driveway waiting for his attention.

He graduated from the Vocational Technical College in New Richmond, Wisconsin, as a Diesel Mechanic in May 1993. Throughout his time in school, Jeff drove home every evening to help with chores on the farm—a reflection of the work ethic that would define his life.

In the summer of 1996, Jeff purchased his own farm and began living out his dream. Then, in 1997, he met “the most beautiful girl he had ever seen” at the locally famous DeNucci’s. Jeff and Tina were married on June 5, 1999, and began milking cows together on the dairy farm.

Farming was more than a career to Jeff—it was his passion. He held a deep respect for animals and for the journey from farm to table. His compassion often showed itself in small but unforgettable ways: stopping in the middle of a hayfield to rescue baby bunnies for his kids, doing everything possible to save a favorite cow, relocating baby pigeons from silos, and trying to save any wildlife unlucky enough to cross paths with a tractor. Jeff was a man larger than life, with a heart to match.

That same year, 1999, Jeff began working as a teacher’s assistant in the Diesel Mechanic Program. Those few years sparked a lifelong legacy of teaching and mentorship. If someone wanted to learn, Jeff was ready to teach. He had a way of taking people under his wing, whether they were family, friends, coworkers, or complete strangers.

Jeff was a man of high standards. His attention to detail, refusal to cut corners, and belief that “good enough never is” shaped everything he did and taught. With his natural mechanical talent and endless curiosity, it was no surprise that he and his friend John found success when they started Horse Power Repair in 2006.

Whenever Jeff hit the town, stories were guaranteed to follow. The next day was often filled with laughter as memories were retold and embellished. He had a gift for turning anything into a joke and could transform even the quietest bar into a rowdy party—especially if there was a karaoke microphone nearby.

One of Jeff’s most obvious love languages was quality time. Although much of his life was spent working on the farm, he had a way of making every task feel like a party; from picking rocks and checking the fence, to putting up hay and chopping corn. He’d put on 80’s rock, open a box of Little Debbie’s, and have a cold Mountain Dew ready for any help.

Getting away from the farm was reserved for special occasions. Jeff looked forward to annual traditions like attending the World Dairy Expo, tractor pulls, county fairs, fixing and ripping snowmobiles, deer season at the bus, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and family trips to the zoo. These moments became treasured memories for those fortunate enough to share them with him.

In 2020, Jeff and Tina retired from dairy farming and transitioned to crop farming. During that same year, Jeff accepted a maintenance position at M&O, where he quickly gained many friends and became everyone's go-to problem solver. Whether it was machinery, maintenance, or everyday life, Jeff was a true jack-of-all-trades, blessed with a wealth of knowledge and more than a little common sense.

From raising crops, calves, and kids, Jeff made every moment count. If he had a mission in life, it was to put smiles on the faces around him and turn frowns into deep-bellied laughter. His kindness, humor, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to family will continue to live on in the stories shared around kitchen tables, in farm shops, and at family gatherings for years to come.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that somewhere, Jeff is already fixing what needs fixing, telling stories, making people laugh, and keeping the peace in his own unforgettable way.

A visitation is to be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Centuria, WI, from 5:00-7:00 PM.

A Funeral Service is to be held at the Alliance Church of the Valley on Friday, June 26, 2026, in St. Croix Falls, WI. Visitation starts at 10:00 AM with Services starting at 11:00.

Jeff will be laid to rest at Laketown Cemetery in Laketown Twp.
