Janice Yvonne (Artcliff) Kolstad, 95, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on March 3, 2025, in Edmonds, Washington. She was surrounded by love, compassion, and kindness from those who loved and cared for her.
Janice was born on October 15, 1929, in Superior, Wisconsin, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She attended Saint Francis Elementary School and graduated from Superior East High School in 1947. Janice was the youngest of four children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Everett Artcliff and Mayme (Greene) Artcliff, and siblings Eileen Eaton, Carol Bosworth, Jean Ann Conley, and Kathleen Pioro.
Janice’s memory is celebrated by her sons, John, Bruce, Brian, and daughter Sheila Fogelman, along with grandchildren Jaime, Laura, Lisa, Alyssa, Garrett, and great-grandchild Riley. Janice is also celebrated by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends.
Janice married John Robert “Bob” Kolstad on February 18, 1950, in Superior, Wisconsin. Together they celebrated 61 years of marriage until Bob’s passing in 2011. Janice raised her four children and supported Bob’s many endeavors. She lived in many places, including Superior, England, Whittier and Huntington Beach, California, and Edmonds, Washington. Janice was a devout Christian and a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was also active with the Lynnwood Emblem Club, Eagle’s Club, and Elk’s Club in Edmonds, Washington. Janice always stood up for the underdog in need of assistance. Trust, honesty, and integrity was a value that were very important to Janice. She loved music, dancing, swimming, spending time with family and friends, and always took an interest in everyone she met. Janice was a loyal friend to many.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Janice’s family will greet guests at the church from 11:30 am until the time of the service. Janice will be laid to rest at the St. Francis Cemetery in Superior following the service. Please join the family back at the church for lunch and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Foundation of America or to the Dementia Society of America would be appreciated.
