Harold M Rakness Jr.

Harold M. Rakness, Jr., affectionately known as Punk, 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Frederic Nursing Home.

Born on February 5, 1958, in St. Paul, MN to Barbara and Harold Rakness. The family moved to Half Moon Lake in 1964. He graduated from Unity High School in 1976.

Before suffering a stroke in 2005, Punk worked at the Half Moon Store as a kid, Kroy Industries as an adult, and Milltown Heating & Appliance as his last job. He was known for his work at the family-run business, Half Moon Lake Resort and for a few years was the caretaker of the Half Moon Lake Beach. He was an avid Minnesota sports fan and could be seen reading the newspaper every morning, including completing the crossword puzzles.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Rakness and Barbara Schmidt. He is survived by his brothers, Rich (Carla) Rakness and Ron Rakness; nieces, Courtney Apfelbacher and Christy Grant; extended family and many dear friends.

We would like to thank the staff of Frederic Nursing & Rehabilitation, St. Croix Hospice, and those who cared for him at Sunnyview Apartments.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
