Gloria J. (Swanson) Hodges

June 1, 1926 — November 5, 2014

Gloria Jean Hodges died peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Gloria was born on June 1, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, to Vernon and Ollie Swanson.

She was united in marriage to Harry Leonard Larson on June 12, 1948. They made their home in Detroit, Michigan, and four children born – Robert Allen, Gary Van, Dianne Jeanne and Debra Ann.

Gloria moved from Detroit to Centuria, Wisconsin, after the death of her beloved son and husband in 1968 where she made her home for many years. In 1973, she married Steve Hodges. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in St. Croix Falls for many years serving in several capacities. In February of 2012, she made her home at Deerfield Gables in New Richmond where she made many friends. Gloria loved her family and friends.

Gloria is preceded in death by her sons, Gary and Robert; husbands, Harry and Steve; her parents, Vernon and Ollie Swanson; and recently her grandson, Jeremiah Wall.

Left to mourn are her daughters, Dianne (Steve) Bystrom of Osceola, Wisconsin, and Debra (Michael) Reiter of Amery, Wisconsin; grandson, Christopher (Lisa) Bystrom of Gypsum, Colorado, Michael (Erica) Wall of Sebastopol, California, Michael (Melanie) Reiter of New Richmond, Wisconsin; granddaughters, Rebecca Walstead of Osceola, Wisconsin, Suzanne (Michael) Harvey of River Falls, Wisconsin, and Kristina Reiter of Woodbury, Minnesota; great grandchildren, Jamison Walstead, Vandit and Corsten Bystrom, Josiah Walstead, Talon Wall, Broden Reiter, Jasmyn Walstead, Esmae Harvey, Josilyn Walstead, Liam Wall, Lincoln Harvey, and Michael and Mariah Benedict.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 7, 2014 at Deerfield Gable Care Center, 575 Hospital Rd, New Richmond, Wisconsin at 2:30 P.M. A brief visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service. The family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon and continued fellowship immediately following the service at Deerfield Gable Care Center. A private burial will take place at St. Johns Cemetery in Centuria on Saturday, November 8, 2014.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
