Franklin "Red" G. McCurdy

In Loving Memory of Franklin (Red) G. McCurdy, aged 86, passed away on January 24th, 2026, surrounded by beloved family. Red was born on November 13th, 1939, in Frederic, WI, to George and Margaret McCurdy. Red graduated from Unity High School in May of 1959. In his high school years, he played on the football team and also helped his parents with farm work. In 1960, he started working at Patterson Dental in Minneapolis, MN, for 15 years. Red met Betty Zahurones in 1964 and got married on January 9th,1965. Together they raised their three children, Lynda, Julie, and Diane, in Coon Rapids, MN, and later in 1976 moved to Centuria, WI, and bought the Eagle Lounge with a co-owner, and later sold the Eagle Lounge in early 80s and bought the McCurdy Sewer Service in the early 80s and had that for 20 years then sold the Sewer Service. Red and Betty also co-owned Wise Guys Bar in Milltown.

His hobbies were fishing, gardening, hunting, reading western books, watching western T.V shows, watching football, and going on trips and camping with friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty McCurdy, his loving children Lynda, Julie (Dale), Diane (Dan), his grandchildren Melissa, Michelle (Jimmy), Heidi (Andy), Jessica, Amy (Adrial), and Megan (Jake), and two great-grandchildren, Mei and Declan, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret McCurdy; his brothers, Robert and Donald; and his sister, Hazel. A special thanks to St. Croix Hospice for their care.

A celebration of Red’s life will be held on February 7th, 2026, from 12 to 5 pm at the VFW 1503 200th Ave, Milltown, WI 54858.
