Phyllis E. (Neville McDonald) Hoen, 94, of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, passed away on October 17th, 2019. Phyllis was born February 20, 1925 in Minneapolis, MN to Henry and Hulda Neville. Phyllis grew up in Minneapolis, where she spent most of her time with her sister, Mary, playing tennis, golfing, bowling, and taking trips with her parents in her dad’s Model A car. Phyllis loved bowling and was, for a time, participating in 3 leagues every week and even went to many out of state tournaments, often times bringing home a trophy. In her 30’s, Phyllis bought a cabin on Balsam Lake, where she met her first husband, Thomas McDonald, and had 2 children, Patrick and Denise. A few years into their marriage, Tom passed away unexpectedly. Phyllis worked at the bank in Balsam Lake and Centuria, where she then started pitching horseshoes on a league and even went to many tournaments during her summers. She also enjoyed playing bridge and actively participated in the Women’s Study Club. In 1987, Phyllis married her second husband, Bernard Hoen, gaining 2 step-sons and their families. Phyllis lived out the remainder of her life in Balsam Lake.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Hulda Neville, sister, Mary Enga, husband, Thomas McDonald, son Patrick McDonald, and husband, Bernard Hoen.
