Vernon Lowe

Vernon “Nii Gann Ji We” Lowe Sr. (Getaway), 69, of the Round Lake Community, Luck, Wisconsin passed away on December 15, 2017.

Vernon was born on March 6, 1948 in Johnstown Township, Wisconsin the son of Charles J. and Susan (Wakemeup) Lowe.  Vern and his wife Susie (Susan Caroline (Burke) Lowe) of 30 years together raised a beautiful family of four children, Missy, Katy, Robert and Vern Jr.  Vern had many jobs throughout his lifetime but the one he enjoyed the most was working at the St. Croix Casino for 27 years as a shift manager where he got to meet and make a lot of friends.

Vern’s passion was his love for his family whether it be his children, grandchildren or extended family.  He was always there for them.

He loved going to the races and also watching Nascar racing where the #48 was his favorite.  He loved to watch his grandkids play sports, he loved playing bingo, playing slot machines, and watching all-star wrestling.  He loved to talk smack about football and giving his kids a hard time about their teams especially when his Kansas City Chiefs were winning.  Vern and Susie were foster parents to many kids throughout the years.  Vern spent the last 16 years with his partner Jo Anne Thompson along with her daughters, Nikki, Lori and Andrea.  Vern and Jo were also taking care of his great great nephew Johnnie.

Vern also loved hunting, fishing and going camping with all his family.

Vernon leaves to celebrate his memory: children, Missy (Joel) Zappa, Katy Merrill, Robert Lowe, Vern (Michaela) Lowe Jr. and Andrea Thompson, grandchildren, Pasquale Zappa, Gianna Zappa, Danielle Lowe, Rayn Merrill, Rayven Merrill, Garrett Merrill, Carlie Merrill, Ashton Lowe, Kadence Lowe, Camden Lowe, Jasmine Lowe, Abigail Lowe, Sage Lowe, Damon Bearheart, Adrian Bearheart, Lizzy Gross and Johnnie Severson-Greer, great grandchild, Theodore (Teddy) Zappa, loving partner, Jo Thompson and her children, Nikki and Lori, brother, Pete (Jenny) Lowe, many nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.  He was preceded in death by, wife Susan Caroline (Burke) Lowe, father, Charles Lowe, mother, Susan Wakemeup, brothers, Richard, Stanley and David Lowe, sisters, Ida Mae Merrill and Mary Jane Frogg and his son-in-law, Russell Merrill Jr.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon on Sunday, December 17 at the Round Lake Community Center and continue until the time of services on Monday at 2:00 P.M.

Vernon will be laid to rest at the Georgetown Township Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Lowe, Stevie Lowe, Butch Buck, Clifford Martin, Ed Burke and Todd Bents.  Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Burke, Gerry Pieper, Josh Lundequam and David Lowe.

The Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Cenuria has been entrusted with arrangements.
