Thomas G. Foeller, age 80 peacefully passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Willow Ridge Healthcare in Amery with his family by his side.  He was born July 18, 1937 in St. Paul, Minnesota the son of Thomas and Loretta (Sniezek) Foeller.

Tom graduated from Cretin High School in St. Paul, MN in 1955. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1956 and was stationed in Key West, FL. where he served aboard the submarine US Grenadier SS525 until 1960. This was one of proudest accomplishments. On February 9, 1957 he was united in marriage to Judith Belmont. Their marriage was richly blessed with 8 children, 4 sons and 4 daughters.

Prior to his service in the Navy, he was employed at Univac in St. Paul, MN and returned to working there after his tour of duty. He was transferred to Iowa in 1963 and from there to Pennsylvania where he continued his career at Univac until 1965 when he chose to pursue his dream of owning his own company developing & building computer & communications hardware. Tom and his family returned to the St. Paul area in 1970 where he continued his career and eventually moved to Balsam Lake, WI where he and Judy finished raising their family. He changed careers in the late 80’s and started a company in the printing & publishing industry in New York City until his “unofficial” retirement in 1992, but continued to keep himself busy working on other business ventures.

Tom had a great love of books and was an avid reader. He collected cameras, and as a result  became a very accomplished photographer. He also had a love of speed which led to his interest in aviation and drag racing. He competed in drag racing at the Minnesota speed way and received his pilot certificate in the 1960’s as well his instrument rating, which allowed him to fly twin engine airplanes, something he was very proud of and loved to do.  He was a man of a great faith and love of God. Above all, Tom cherished his family and he and Judy enjoyed spending time with their many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith, children; Kelly (Dean) Frokjer, Thomas (Beth) Foeller, Zachary J. (Amy Albrecht) Foeller, Kathleen (Kevin) Tarman, Laurene (Mark) Robbins, Gregory (Tara) Foeller, Danielle (Ben Buck) Foeller, Alexander Foeller, 28 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, grandchild, Zachary T.
